Overseas, the Toyota Hilux is a popular name. So, if you’ve never heard of it before, you’re not alone. However, later this year, the Hilux will be released here in the States. Therefore, it’s a name you’ll soon be familiar with. With a reputation for rugged reliability and versatility, the Hilux is a truck we think you’ll love, so let’s learn more.

New & Updated

Having been sold overseas for some time, the Hilux isn’t a new model. That’s why it’s getting refreshed, and that’s what’s going to be released later this year. Those familiar with the model can expect an updated design, powertrains, and performance.

Performance

Under the hood, the Hilux will use a mild-hybrid 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. A gasoline engine is also expected to be available. And while prototypes for fully electric and hydrogen fuel-cell powertrains have been showcased, they have yet to be confirmed. So, changes for a fully electric Hilux are up in the air.

Design

Very little is known about the design specifics of the new Toyota Hilux. With the help of digital rendering specialists, we have a good guess of what to expect.

From what we’ve gathered, it appears as if the front end will feature slim headlights and a boxy grille. The front bumper seems to have sculpted side sections and a prominent skid plate. The fenders appear to use plastic cladding. And the rear looks to sport updated taillights and integrated steps on the bumper.

More Info Coming Soon

Marketed as a rival to the Ford Ranger, the Toyota Hilux is sure to impress upon its release. But there’s still much to know about this upcoming truck. That’s why we’ll continue to update this page when we learn more.
