Fourteen years is a long time for a single generation. Still, the second-gen Toyota Sequoia managed to stay successful thanks to capacious accommodations, off-road ability, and renowned reliability. But just when we thought we'd seen the last of Toyota's largest SUV, the automaker finally announced the Sequoia's all-new third generation.

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is set to launch this summer, and the previews have given us plenty to get excited about. One major highlight is the new generation's utility prospects, which are even greater than before. In addition to expansive cargo space, the 2023 Sequoia can tow as much as some full-size pickups. Under the hood, the new Sequoia finds motivation in Toyota's all-new i-FORCE MAX powertrain. The twin-turbo V-6 hybrid (437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque) and optimized 10-speed automatic transmission allow the 2023 Sequoia to tow up to 9,000 pounds—a 22% increase over the previous generation. And with advanced tech features like Trailer Backup Guide, Straight Path Assist, and Panoramic View Monitor, maneuvering with a trailer is easier than ever.
